I think by now we have all at some point or another used AI. Whether that’s looking something up on google, downloading an AI assistant, or even just using a service where AI has replaced a human worker. The amount of AI being quickly integrated into today’s world is honestly just the beginning. Just in the past year AI has learned so many new and essential skills that many didn’t think possible. Not only that but it is also growing in popularity whether we like it or not.

It’s hard to admit but AI is just better in many of the skills it learns. It can pull data from millions of sources all within seconds so it’s no wonder it can pull off so much. But with that being said are all these technological milestones really the direction we should be steering our own futures in?

AI’s Big Break

The stir around AI has been anything but quiet. Tech giants from all over the globe have been in an arms race to see who can come out with the most advanced version of AI. Nowadays we have AI powered weapons, workers, and even companions. AI has quickly sunk it’s teeth into every category it can, so it’s no wonder that content creators are quick to be next on the chopping block.

You see it started back when AI was first being dispersed to the masses. When apps like Sora or Grok became popular it unlocked a new easy way to make content. For many being a content creator is a dream job. You’re your own boss, make your own hours, and most off all get paid for what you actually enjoy doing.

At it’s core content itself was supposed to be a way of bringing others with similar but niche interests together. Maybe you really like gardening so you find a community online and even follow a few creators to get more inspo. But we don’t always want to be learning something, sometimes we just want to relax and not think for half a second.

This is where doom scrolling becomes prevalent, how many times have you sat and wasted minutes if not hours doom scrolling. Slowly we have been conditioned to eat slop. As our attention spans shrink it became easier to slide in less and less quality into what we consumed.

From Tik Tok to dating apps, we have been conditioned to keep searching for the next best thing. No longer do we just settle for what we have but instead we are left constantly wishing we had more. With that all being said AI has found a way to fill that constant need that we all now have.

When it comes to actual humans, we have limitations. We get tired, burnt out, or just loose interest. But AI? It just blows us humans out of the water in comparison. It’s no wonder companies are clamoring to get their hands on the latest version.

But it’s not just companies anymore who see AI’s value from a productivity stand point. Many average day people are incorporating AI more and more into their daily lives and that includes the content they consume.

AI content has absolutely BOOMED over the past few years. AI celebrity videos, fruit love island, animals doing goofy stunts, it’s just everywhere. At first many, myself included, found them to be silly but entertaining. But now more and more videos are being published using AI which in turn has flooded peoples fyp’s.

It’s no secret, things today are WAYYY to expensive, this intern has made a lot of people desperate. In desperation to stay afloat many are turning to side hustles to help manage the bills. One of those side hustles that has really grown in recent years is content creating. YouTube, twitch, and even OnlyFans have all grown as platforms as for many although the chances of making real money are slim they are still possible.

But it can be hard to write, film, and edit videos. Many don’t feel creative enough to or even have the time to make content in the first place. That is where AI has come to fill the gap. At first glance that seems like a perfect idea!

Maybe you work a full time job but still yearn to be just like your favorite content creator or you just need a way to make money. Using AI, you don’t need to know how to draw, edit, or even film for that matter. While yes it takes time to learn how to use the AI, once you have that under your belt, it becomes as easy as typing up a few words, stiching everything together, and boom a whole video written, filmed, and edited all without any effort from your part.

Everyone’s A Loser

While as much as AI can become the perfect helpful companion on the other end, it can also become one of are biggest thorns. From helping you with your job to taking your job the possibilities are endless. But more and more we see AI being pushed to become the new norm.

We have already begun feeling it’s affects. Many companies are laying off workers in mass. Long before that AI was stealing art from around the internet and touting it as it’s own creation. Plus nowadays many are just shit posting thousands of AI videos to social media platforms making it hard to always know if what your watching is real or not.

It has become so popular to post AI content since it is low effort with major returns. It gives people the ability to post huge heaps of content while barely taking any time to make it. While most of the videos posted will be seen as slop garbage, since they can be pumped out in droves, most likely one of those is likely to go viral. Or they just make AI kids content which that in itself sounds like a horrible idea (for the kids) but a great idea for those who crave money.

Unfortunately the world we know is solely driven by currency these days. Basically if you won’t do something for me then I won’t do something for you. Which is fair until we have reached this point where everyone needs help but no one will lend a hand. That being said, because these are desperate times I don’t see the use of AI slowing down anytime soon.

More and more people are using AI to help them with work, school, and even just to answer everyday questions. Even those who don’t support AI, inadvertently use it or will use it just by the sheer reach it has. Many report higher energy bills in areas near and around data centers. When we call to make appointments we are often met with AI receptionists. It just feels like we can’t escape it even if we truly want to.

For content creators especially this can prove to be deadly. While there of course is a strong backlash against AI, on the flip side there are people with money and time ready to milk AI for all it’s got. Those who are already creators will find it harder but not impossible to compete with AI as they already have a fan base built up. But those hoping to make it big nowadays are going to be running into walls the size of China.

Why is that? Well as many know the influencer market is already VERY saturated. As stated before, to become a content creator is a dream job for many. So it’s no surprise that the market before AI was already pretty rough. Now though, so much AI content can be pumped, that not only are you fighting against people who have more experience but your also fighting against the millions of bot accounts made solely for the purpose of farming views.

The other problem for creators is kids. While not every creator is gearing their contents towards kids, children often time have a heavy influence on one another therefore also making a heavy influence online. Who do you think helps push trends? Kids see things online and try to emulate it in real life. Buying Stanley’s because they are trendy or wearing a certain style because it’s what their fave creator wears.

Kids often times also grow up right alongside creators. I personally still watch one or two of my favorite high school creators just because they were such a huge part of my childhood. But that being said, children are more easy to influence.

While it’s not the internet’s job to parent your own kid, many parents would disagree lol. Many parents are to busy or lazy to care what their kids consume and for most that would contain 90% brain mush. Without real life human creators many of these kids won’t have a hero or someone to look up to.

Not to mention the disaster it will be for their attention spans and just overall ability to enjoy life. Now I know I sound dramatic but just look at how much the other generations, my gen Z included have devolved. Many of us are depressed, lonely, and struggling to keep the motivation to keep going.

The New Norm

With this new wave of content creating a lot of things in the game are changing. One of the most recent things I have seen was an add for a celebrity chat site. Influencers or even famous celebs selling their likeness to AI chat bots (They have a black mirror episode around this already lol).

So at this point why even make content? I mean your just going to be competing with AI shit posters, already established influencers, and of course AI itself.

Well it isn’t all lost but the road will be hard. As someone who has dreamed for years of becoming a content creator I know how hard it can be. I find it impossible to post everyday. I have a full time job, family, hobbies, and honestly I also just need days to relax too.

In my case though I do it out of the sheer love of the game. I don’t expect to go viral, or even get much attention at all. But growing up that is EXACTLY what content creators were. You couldn’t get paid to blog or to post videos on YouTube. Now I would be a big fat liar if I said I wasn’t hoping to make some sort of money out of this, but it isn’t my priority.

I think as time goes on character will mean so much more. As more and more people continue to grow weary of AI there is something we have that it doesn’t. Thoughts, we have thoughts, which sounds simple but really who else do you know thinks? We can be coerced into liking things, but somehow even if our lives are all planned out, we can suddenly change our minds.

We decide not to do things because we are tired. AI just keeps going which at first sounds like an L for humans but really is it so wrong to just enjoy instead of create? With our ability to think thoughts, we can create, help, and do things that are off course or off the programming that an AI is built to follow.

Because of our ability to make mistakes we are inherently not perfect. Nor are we told we are, which for bots that is their whole purpose. We get the grace of being imperfect and it working out in our favor, and I think that sense of genuineness will become key into the future of content creating.

For anyone who is scared to take that step I highly encourage you to! If you go in with the mindset that you are doing it out of love then you’ll never fail. Even if you post once and it get’s maybe one or even zero likes you are doing it because you wanted to. You have been blessed with the free will to do so. You aren’t a machine programmed to pump content for money. Your a real person who isn’t perfect but no one said you had to be.

Where AI has to be perfect and has to fulfill it’s goal, you get the freedom to be silly and goofy and no where near perfect. You’ll get tired of something but that’s a good thing. Content creators who get tired of doing it are replaced with new comers. It’s kind of like a forest, over time titans fall and are replaced with hundreds of saplings. Many of which have learned from past creators and continue to help content evolve.

But with AI, they lack the ability to be themselves, as they have to be everything at once. It’s also hard to grow a new tree when all the tree’s are undying robots crowding the already full forests. This in turn will make the internet a recycled dumpster fire. With more ideas having to be reused as AI can only use what is already known.

I think you guys get it though, AI is this and AI that. Point is your not AI (hopefully your human lol). I strongly encourage you all to continue to support real people, honestly more in real life than on the internet, but still online to! It’s not always convenient but the best things never are!
